For many years Ashley Adabahr worked in family law, first as a paralegal, and then more recently as a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP). Over the years, she unfortunately saw her fair share of expensive divorce and child custody cases. Family law cases are deeply personal, and without the right guidance, these cases often end up in court battles and cost clients tens of thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees.
Given the high cost of litigation and the soaring hourly rates of many attorneys, many Colorado families are left to navigate complex court requirements without legal advice. For many families, even just a few unbundled legal services, or a few hours of affordable legal consultation can prevent multiple appearances in court, and avoid costly mistakes in settlement agreements.
In response to a significant need for affordable legal representation for Colorado families, the Colorado Supreme Court created Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals (LLPs). The first group of LLPs were sworn in on June 20, 2024. Ashley Adabahr of Two Roads Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals, LLC, was in the first group of LLPs to be licensed in the State of Colorado. LLPs are licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court to represent clients in a variety of family law matters pursuant to Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure Rule 207. The rule sets forth the scope and limitations of what LLPs can do in family law cases.
